Do I need help with my financial planning?
How to find an advisor who will put you first
Getting to know us:
Many advisors have various requirements for clients regarding minimum assets. We have a different idea. There are two groups I can help. If you have money and are confused, give us a call. If you have no money but have a goal and the means to get there we can help.
If you would like to consider working with us here is how it works.
The first step is to meet and get to know each other. Without the ability to be at ease with each other and communicate well there is little chance we can work together. The first and all subsequent meetings will be with Colin. There is no junior associate that you will be assigned to. If you become a client you may, from time to time, meet with Shawna to sign papers if Colin is not around. Everything goes through Colin's office.
After we have gotten to know each other we will need some information from you. This information includes your last two tax returns, your will, a budget of personal and living expenses as well as statements of all your investments and loans. We understand this is all very personal and private information but there is no way to properly advise you without understanding your complete situation.
After we have gathered the information we have to build a financial model of you. If you become a client, Shawna Young, as Branch Manager will be able to assist with administrative issues, if Colin is not available. The software we use is the most advanced available and we can input every expense, every liability, revenue, and asset. We can print out a tax return for you for the year 2020 if you would like to see what that may look like. This level of analysis enables us to give the best and most comprehensive advice possible.
Once I have a good idea where things are we need to meet to establish where you are trying to go. Depending on your situation this meeting is normally about two hours long. This is the part of the process that is most like an art form. Understanding your situation and your unique needs is the most important part to providing good advice.
Then I go off and create the plan. If all has gone well, by the time I present to you it all seems like common sense. If you like the presentation and feel we can help, we can schedule a follow up meeting to implement the plan.
